We are pleased to announce a joint UKSP-NAM session on “Solar and Stellar Magnetic Activity” at this year’s National Astronomy Meeting.
Session scheduled for Tuesday 2nd July (TBC)
Please register and submit your abstracts for this session via the NAM 2013 web page:

Session theme:
Magnetic fields are central to stellar activity on a wide range of spatial and time scales. Our knowledge and understanding of how these magnetic fields evolve remains an active research area. On the one hand, researchers studying our own Sun are benefiting from detailed observations from the likes of the Solar Dynamics Observatory, Hinode and ground-based instruments. On the other, recent reconstruction techniques, such as Zeeman Doppler Imaging, are revealing the diverse surface magnetic topology of increasing numbers of other stars. Researchers in both fields have developed powerful modelling techniques and sophisticated theories for solar and stellar dynamics that are of mutual interest. This session aims to bring together researchers in both solar and stellar magnetism to share recent developments and focus on the growing common ground between the two communities.
