Plasma Structures at the Planets and Beyond

“Plasma Structures at the Planets and Beyond”:
A session to be held at the European Planetary Science Congress 2013
University College London, 8 – 13 Sept. 2013, London, UK
——————————————————————————————————-
A session entitled “Plasma Structures at the Planets and Beyond” and numbered MTI9 (Remote Sensing) will be held at the European Planetary Science Congress 2013 at University College London.
For details of the session, please see meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EPSC2013/session/13799
For details of the congress, please see www.epsc2013.eu

The session is dedicated to reviewing how global imaging of plasma structures advances our understanding of the solar wind interaction with solar system bodies; in particular, how the advent of soft X-ray imaging, which exploits the charge exchange emission resulting from the encounters of solar wind heavy ions with atmospheric neutrals, offers opportunities to map such plasma structures at spatial scales and time cadences consistent with the processes under study. The objective is to compare and contrast this new approach with more traditional and well established imaging techniques, such as those in the FUV, EUV and ENA.

Thus we invite you to attend the session and submit contributions focussed on the subject of global planetary imaging, associated techniques and science results (through administrator.copernicus.org/authentication.php).

Please pass this message on to interested colleagues (and apologies if you get this message via more than one mailing list).
Looking forward to seeing you in London in September,

Graziella Branduardi-Raymont (g.branduardi-raymont@ucl.ac.uk),
