RMetS Event on 20th May – “Space Climate: An overview of space weather on long timescales”

Dear UKSP community,

On Wednesday 20th May 13:00 – 17:00, the Royal Meteorological Society is hosting an online event “Space Climate: An overview of space weather on long timescales”. This event brings together experts on space climate to give an overview of how the coupled Sun-to-Earth system responsible for space weather behaves over decades, centuries and longer.

Talks will focus on ‘top-down’ and ‘bottom-up’ climatological influences, what past extreme solar events and space climate projections tell us about future events, and how the satellite sector (and others) can use this information to mitigate long term risk.

The event is targeted at academic and early career researchers working on space weather and space climate, but will also be of interest those in industry working on space weather resilience. It will be hosted via Zoom and is free to register: https://www.rmets.org/event/space-climate-overview-space-weather-long-timescales.

We hope to see many of you there!

Kind regards,
Joe Eggington (EDF UK R&D)
Edmund Henley (UK Met Office)
