Dear Colleagues.
We remind you to submit contributed abstracts for our session “Detailed Sun-Earth Connection Studies of Space Weather” (SH005 – co-sponsored by SM, SA, and NH) at the upcoming Fall AGU Meeting in December. The full session description is below along with the contact details of all four convenors. The abstract deadline is 06 August 2013 at 23:59EDT. The full AGU meeting details can be found from the AGU website: http://fallmeeting.agu.org/2013/ where the necessary guide and links to submitting abstracts can also be found.
Our confirmed invited speakers are:
– Xin Cheng (The 2013 AGU Sunanda and Santimay Basu Early Career Award in Sun-Earth Systems Science Prize Winner – Nanjing University, P.R. China)
– Doug Biesecker (NOAA-SWPC, CO, USA)
– Nat. Gopalswamy (NASA-GSFC, MD, USA)
– Philippe Escoubet (ESA, The Netherlands)
Please can you forward this on to colleagues whom you think this session will also be on interest and apologies if you receive multiple copies of this message/posting.
Many thanks and best wishes,
Dr. Mario M. Bisi (on behalf of the SH005 Session Conveners).
Session Description:
“This session will discuss the current status of, and potential advances in, observations and modelling techniques used to study the corona and the outflow of the solar wind – and to link these areas of research with those of sub-storms and geomagnetic activity at Earth. Topics would include, but not be limited to, sources of solar-wind and transient activity, heliospheric outflow, tracing magnetic-field changes from Sun to Earth and roles in which magnetic topology play in the resultant space weather at Earth, e.g. the onset of geomagnetic activity and sub-storms, radiation-belt enhancements, and the flow of solar wind energy into Earth’s upper atmosphere.”
Conveners:
Mario M. Bisi (Mario.Bisi [at] aber.ac.uk – Aberystwyth University, Wales, UK)
Michael A. Hapgood (mike.hapgood [at] stfc.ac.uk – RAL Space, England, UK)
Janet G. Luhmann (jgluhman [at] ssl.berkeley.edu – UC Berkeley, CA, USA)
Sarah E. Gibson (sgibson [at] ucar.edu – NCAR, CO, USA).
