SEISMOLOGY OF THE SUN, STARS AND THEIR ATMOSPHERES (COSPAR session E2.3)

SEISMOLOGY OF THE SUN, STARS AND THEIR ATMOSPHERES (COSPAR session E2.3)

At the COSPAR meeting in Athens (15-24 July, 2022), we are hosting a session on seismology of stellar objects and their atmospheres. In this session, we will bridge the gap between helioseismology, asteroseismology and solar/stellar atmospheric seismology. While there is a difference in time scales, observations and geometry, many of the observational and mathematical tools are common in all three fields. Despite this common ground between the different communities, it is rare to have joint conferences and sessions. Thus, it makes sense to bring together the respective communities in those fields.

We have as confirmed invited speakers:
Valery Nakariakov (University of Warwick, UK): Seismology of the solar atmosphere and extensions to stellar coronae
Saskia Hekker (Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies, Germany): Asteroseismology
Shravan Hanasoge (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, India): Seismology of the solar interior and stars
Rene Kiefer (Leibniz-Institute for Solar Physics (KIS), Germany): Helio- and asteroseismology and the connection to magnetic activity

Abstracts for contributions to this session are to be submitted through https://www.cospar-assembly.org/ by the 11th of February 2022.
