If you are interested in any aspect of solar/stellar eruptions and are attending NAM2014, please consider submitting a talk for the following session:
Solar and stellar eruptions: Theory and observations of the evolution of magnetic eruptions
This session will bring together theorists and observers working on solar and stellar eruptions, ranging from flares to coronal mass ejections (CMEs). From the solar community, theorists will describe the latest models and simulations, discussing new findings on how solar eruptions form and evolve. This will include topics such as flux emergence, magnetic reconnection and topology and particle acceleration, all of which are vital for understanding the evolution of eruptions. Observers will describe the latest detailed results from the current flotilla of solar satellites. They will describe new discoveries that will give new directions for improving our theories of solar eruptions. With the growing availability of magnetic maps from other stars, their large scale magnetic topologies can be determined. This is a perfect time for the solar and stellar communities to come together to apply the detailed findings of solar eruptions to other stars.
Organisers: David MacTaggart (Abertay), Lidia van Driel-Gesztelyi (MSSL/UCL), Vasilis Archontis (St Andrews), Scott Gregory (St Andrews)
The abstract deadline is 1st April. If you need any more details, please feel free to contact me: d.mactaggart@abertay.ac.uk
