Announcement for second round of Community feedback to the Science Board

Dear UKSP community,

STFC PPAN project prioritisation continues to move forward. The 5 Advisory Panel chairs are attending prioritisation meetings (as non-voting members), although there will also be closed sessions without them. I have met with the science board chair, who thanks you for your feedback so far.

The Science Board has requested further information from the UKSP community
(1) Any questions arising?
(2) Identify any cross-cutting impacts of prioritisation

Your Initial feedback in this linked document will be forwarded to the Science Board on Friday 1st May 12:00 (before the next prioritisation meeting).

A final summary will be subsequently submitted on 19th May.

Best regards,
Malcolm Druett,
UKSP Council Chair

UKSP Chair Science Board Chair meeting summary

    1. Project Prioritisation:
48 projects (listed) are being considered for prioritisation (these are facilities and large projects)
      Each was asked to evaluate impacts of cost reductions of {flat-cash/10%/20%/30%}
However {flat-cash/10%/20%/30%} is likely a summative result.
It is not necessarily the scenario facing individual projects, which may even be cancelled.
    2. Talent funding (ERF & Studentships):
It is intended that funding “talent” will be ring-fenced at “current levels”
    3. Grants line (Small and Large Grants):
This will likely be “held at 25-26 level” through the spending review
