In March of this year the European Solar Telescope (EST) was adopted onto the ESFRI Roadmap – a great milestone after almost 10 years of hard work by partners in 14 different countries! In June the consortium applied for funding from the H2020 programme for the preparatory phase that will establish the legal and governance structures for the construction, and allow us to finalise the telescope design. This application was successful and the UK will lead the work-package to define the legal framework for construction and operation, moving EST one step closer to reality.
