Applications for individual membership in the International Astronomical Union (IAU) are accepted once every three years, before the IAU General Assembly (GA), where applications are considered.

As the next IAU GA will be held in Honolulu Hawai’i between 3–14 August 2015 (see http://astronomy2015.org), those who qualify for IAU membership, and wish to apply, should now pursue it.

For UK-based researchers, the deadline for completing the application form is 9 January 2015. Please contact the RAS membership secretary (Fern Storey <fs@ras.org.uk>) to obtain the form and for details of the application process (https://www.ras.org.uk/membership/join/882-iau8).
