IMPORTANT – Changes to UKSP Mailing List

For the last few years, the UKSP mailing list has been hosted at the University of Glasgow School of Physics and Astronomy and we have relied on the goodwill of the IT staff there for technical support. However, as was highlighted by the recent mailing list problems (due to hardware issues in Glasgow), this arrangement is no longer satisfactory. Although the IT staff in Glasgow have been doing everything they can to assist us, the UKSP mailing list is not their responsibility.

To ensure continued smooth running of the mailing list, the UKSP Council has decided to migrate the mailing list to JISCMAIL (as also used by the MIST communtiy) and all current subscribers to the UKSP list have now been copied to the new (moderated) UKSP JISCMAIL list.

However, at least untill the next UKSP business meeting, we will continue to operate the current UKSP Newsletter system as a majority of community members have expressed their preference for this system at previous business meetings. Therefore, do NOT send items directly to the list but continue to submit them to the newsletter at:

http://uksolphys.org/news/submit-news/

As a trial, the 1 October 2012 UKSP Newsletter will be sent to both list and hence, everyone should receive TWO COPIES. If you receive the October 1st newsletter from uksp@jiscmail.ac.uk (tagged in the subject line with [UKSP-JISC]), then your details have been successfully migrated.

To check and adjust preferences on the new system, subscribe or unsubscribe, please visit “http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/uksp” and click on “Subscribe or Unsubscribe”. If you encounter any problems, please resubscribe using the link above.
