I will be retiring from the University of Manchester in January 2026 after over 40 years – although continuing as Professor Emerita. My Department are kindly organising “PipFest” to celebrate this occasion, and I warmly invite my solar physics friends and colleagues to join if possible. Several of my co-workers including former PhD students and postdocs will be giving talks, and there will be refreshments and a chance to socialise.

Friday January 30th 2026, Jocelyn Bell Burnell Lecture Theatre, Schuster Building, University of Manchester.

Draft programme:
13:00 Coffee and biscuits.
13:30 – 16:00 Talks (to be finalised: speakers including Eric Priest, my first and last PhD students David Kitson and James Stewart, Silvia Dalla, Mykola Gordovskyy, Ken McClements, the Head of Physics and Astronomy, and the Jodrell Bank Director)
