Lecturer in Space Physics, Physics Department, Lancaster University
Ref: A719
Closing Date: 8 July 2013
Salary: £37,382 – £44,607
We are looking for a talented individual to join the Physics Department’s Space Plasma Environment and Radio Science Group. Current research focuses on the space environment from the surface of the Sun to the upper atmosphere of the Earth and other planets. We are keen to attract a new member of academic staff who will complement existing strengths in solar-terrestrial physics and space weather, and welcome applications from individuals who will expand the group’s research in the fields of solar or planetary physics.
The post is permanent (subject to a probationary period) and tenable from 1 October 2013. You will hold a PhD in a relevant discipline and be able to demonstrate research excellence evidenced by a track record of high-quality publications in an appropriate discipline. As well as attracting research income from appropriate funding agencies, you will play a vital role in the development of the space research programme within the Department. You will be expected to contribute to teaching within the department at undergraduate and postgraduate level, hence training the next generation of scholars.
Lancaster University is approaching its 50th anniversary and has a world-class reputation as a centre for excellence in research and teaching, particularly in science and technology. We are strongly committed to fostering this diversity as a source of excellence, cultural enrichment, and social strength. We welcome applications from those who would contribute to the further diversification of our department.
