The Centre for mathematical Plasma Astrophysics (CmPA) of the Department of Mathematics at University of Leuven (Belgium) accepts applications for one post-doctoral position within the framework of the DEEP-ER project funded by the European Commission within the FP7 program (deep-er.eu). DEEP-ER involves 13 project partners from 7 European countries, including the supercomputing centers in Juelich and Barcelona
KU Leuven’s participation in the DEEP-ER project aims at studying state of the art astrophysical and space weather applications with focus on efficient scaling on emerging massively parallel architectures.
The researchers will have access to large parallel computing facilities and to a stimulating research environment within the CmPA. The researchers will be employed by KU Leuven, but collaborations with other computing and plasma simulation centers is encouraged.
The work place is Leuven, a historic university town (our university is one of the oldest in Europe, founded in 1425) located just 20 minutes from the center of Brussels and 15 minutes from Brussels international airport, making it easily reachable for international travelers.
Leuven is an international city located in the Flemish (Dutch speaking) part of Belgium, where English is spoken routinely in all places (from University and public offices to shops and entertainment venues).
We aim at producing great astrophysical results and at the same time demonstrating great performances in a true codesign environment with plasma and astrophysics experts working closely with computer scientists.
