Job description/ Project description:
The postdoctoral fellow will be working on the project “Unravelling the dynamics of the solar atmosphere” funded by the Research Council of Norway and the University of Oslo. The project aims to achieve deeper understanding of the workings of the solar atmosphere by combining observations both from space and from the ground and through comparisons with advanced numerical simulations. The University of Oslo has an annual quota of 42 observing days at Swedish 1-meter Solar Telescope on La Palma which is one of the world-leading facilities for high-resolution solar imaging, polarimetry and spectroscopy. The Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics hosts extensive computing hard-ware dedicated to the reduction, processing and analysis of solar observations. The successful applicant is expected to carry out observational research combining ground-based data from the SST and space-based data from IRIS. Depending on qualifications and interests, there are also possibilities for comparing observations with advanced numerical simulations within the framework of the project.
